Whiny rant ahead...brace yourselves.

I seriously can't find a CNA job to save my life.  Been state certified since December, and have had a grand total of 1 interview(which apparently fell through)

I just don't get it.  I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs.  I have zero tattoos and no piercings.  I'm respectful. I'm reverent.  I'm nice.  I'm in shape.  What is it that makes me unhireable?

  1. It's the economy, doll. When times get tight, the first thing to go in a hospital is the patient care tech/CNA positions. It has nothing to do with you being "unhireable" (which isn't at all accurate. You would make a great CNA. And for the number of tech positions I have applied for, one could say the same thing about me...and I know damn well that I would make an awesome nurse tech) There just aren't any positions open.
But it is the same way for the RNs right now. You know that so called "nursing shortage"? Bullshit. When things get rough and people start getting laid off, the nurses who had gone home to raise families come back to work because their husbands were fired or had their hours cut back. Because they have more experience, they are usually first pick for most hospitals. So it isn't exactly an inspiring time to be a nursing student. :-/
